London Library 175th Anniversary

Capability Events Ltd has had an incredible busy start to the summer, starting with the “Words in the Square” event hosted by London Library to celebrate the Library’s 175th Anniversary.

Capability Events and our team set up a fantastic Marquee in the London’s central St James Square.  The build was not without its challenges, having to design a structure around Statues and the numerous trees in the park. As well as ensuring that the visual impact of the Marquee suited its central London location.

The Library had a packed schedule to fit into the week, including a Banquet dinner, Drinks reception and over 20 Book launches and talks.IMG_2746

A fantastic testimonial was given by the client at London Library after the event:

“The London Library’s 175th anniversary celebrations in May 2016 were ambitious.  Plans involved erecting a large marquee in the beautiful gardens of St James’s Square to accommodate a gala dinner, a large anniversary party and 3 days of 16 literary events .  The chosen location, the historic and protected gardens of St James’s Square in Central London, outside The London Library, presented a number of challenges, including statues, manicured gardens,  protected trees and limited access.  The Capability Events marquee team took on the challenge, designing and building a beautiful, five star venue for our celebrations.  Three interconnected marquees were constructed to the highest level with minimal impact on the Square and its residents. The team’s experience in marquee design and their attention to detail was impressive as they created a striking, comfortable marquee that accommodated an Event Area for 350 guests, Box Office, Café, Bookshop, Cloakroom, Toilets, and Catering Kitchen, while at the same time managing to show the Square itself and its gardens in the best possible light.   The Library is grateful to Ben Leeke and his team for all their hard work.  “ Inez Lynn, Librarian and CEO.
