Event Lighting
and Special Effects
Capability Events
are experts at lighting events and parties. Using the latest technology
and the best of the established lighting fixtures we can paint your
event to your design and look or design something from scratch.
We have extensive experience and the people to take your ideas and
transform them into a visual extravaganza. Take a look at all our
pictures of recent events on this page. All these pictures feature
our designs and equipment. It is important to understand that other
suppliers often use pictures which are not from their own events.
Outside
Lighting
Using waterproof
fixtures and power distribution we can light up any building or
feature to paint it to your corporate colours or for your sponsor.
We often project logos to promote companies or raise brand awareness
at events. You can see from our pictures that we are expert at lighting
large country houses. We can do this from a distance or up light
from the base depending on the guests view point or the effect required.
Where needed we plan cable runs and power distribution to maximise
safety and minimise costs. We have also moved into LED lighting
to provide fantastic colour changing capability as well as a drastic
reduction in the power needed and heat produced. We liaise with
county house owners to produce lighting designs that reflect the
grandeur of the building but also protect the heritage of the structure.
Inside
Lighting
There
are plenty of companies splashed across the internet who profess
to light your event. However you should look for those that have
the experience and lighting show designers to make the kit that
they will hire you work to it's maximum impact. Too often a company
has all the gear and no idea. This oft repeated phrase is very apt
when talking about some lighting companies. You should also be careful
of companies who will hire you the lights and equipment but who
don't have the designers. It's like buying a box of paints and then
hiring them out. That does not make you and artist, just a painter
and decorator! Capability Events have lighting show designers and
production staff who's first passion is in making each event look
the best. We light buildings, structures and marquees turning them
into party venues or launch venues depending on what the client
requires.
Special
Effects
We
put together special effects from fireworks and real flame effects
to snow machines and waterfalls. Often the major work in special
effects is in the planning and deciding what can be done within
the budget of the client. We are expert in running with ideas and
producing effects to wow and entertain even the most jaded guests.

A packed dance floor on New years Eve 2006. 700 guests ate a 3 course
silver service meal and danced the night away to a band and disco.
Midnight fireworks and glitter cannons ensured that no one missed
the coming of the new year.

Glitter is fired into the air to celebrate the climax of the party.

Real flame cannons at the entrance to a large ball in a Big top
marquee.

Black and White gloss dance floor and bar await the arrival of guests.

The three pictures here show the different effects that can be achieved
with lighting a building using City Colour up lighters. These allow
the front of the building to change colour throughout the night.

At this student ball we put in a BBQ to run all night for free for
the guests and lit the surrounding chapel and college buildings
with up lighters to create a different mood for the guests who see
these buildings every day.

Large Country house lit for the arrival of guests and lets face
it to show off to the neighbours! We also put in real flame torches
to pick out the garden features.

3000 people cheer to the arrival of the main band of the night.
Two of our large flame cannons fire to the left and right of the
stage lighting up the facade of the Court. The band are almost obscured
by the smoke machine and crowd blinders. This was probably the most
exciting moment of the night. We we're lucky with the weather as
both the stage and dance floor we're open to the stars.

The inside of the Old Engine Shed in Bristol. This is a very drab
building during the day but when properly lit as it is here it is
transformed. We used plenty of Macs for this as well as remote haze
machines to create the depth of field in some of the gobo effects.

Different event but the same venue as the picture above this one.
Both ends of the building were picked out in blue.

Another example of a good gobo projection at the Hollyoaks Birthday
Party. The event took the award for this years most packed bash.
We think someone got carried away with the invitations. Most of
Chester turned up. Including 20 dwarves dressed as oompa loompas!

The projection was fitted into a Mac 500 and moved around the floor
and walls. To be honest nobody really noticed as it was so rammed
and everyone was weirdly obsessed with the oompa loompas. It was
a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Party.

A good example of how different colours can change the mood of the
party. Here the colour scheme was all whites and sky blue washes.
The Star Cloth and Mac in the roof really make this industrial building
look fantastic.

These two large, very white, slab sided marquees are transformed
with the use of large oil wheel projectors. This was a very simple
but very effective use of a small number of lights to really make
the marquees look different. Guests approached the party via a long
drive and commented that they could see the marquees for over a
mile away heightening the sense of a great party to come.

Dancers on a LED floor. This is very difficult to photograph as
one photo can never show the full effect of the changing colours.
This video clip gives a very good
idea of what an LED dance floor can do.

Our favourite ride at this year. Tethered hot air balloon rides.
A full sized balloon rises to about 50ft giving rides to guests
and lighting up the entire area. Here all the light on the house
and garden comes from the balloon flame. We also use just the balloon
burner without the canvas on top as a massive flame thrower. Very
effective when used at outdoor events.

The Morgan logo projected onto the side of their new building. This
is a good example of a basic gobo projection. Companies branding
can be projected and moved about venues to catch the guests eye.
